“THE SILENT SAMARITAN”

Do you remember the movie “Pay It Forward” with Kevin Spacey, Haley Joel Osment and Helen Hunt? It was a story about how a young boy whose philosophy of life is that the world would be a better place if everyone tried to “pay it forward” by helping a stranger, and by that stranger in turn helping another.

That is what we are inviting the women in the community of Faith Counseling Center to be a part of in the near future. We do not name our program “Pay It Forward”, but “The Silent Samaritan.” This funding program is designed for “Women in strength helping women in need.” A woman in strength is asked to donate $100 to The Silent Samaritan fund, a restricted fund. Then there will be an invitation to an activity thanking the donors and informing them about how their donations have helped others. At this point “Silent Samaritans are women, helping women find their own voice. When one finds her own voice, she turns to another and says, ‘Now it's your turn to speak.’” Over the past 14 years centers throughout the country have successfully carried out this program. If you are interested in working on this important program or would like to donate to the fund, please contact us at 480.951.5343 or info@faithcounselingcenter.org

GIVE AN HOUR

Faith Counseling Center is pleased to announce its participation in a national program of volunteers who are professionally prepared to assist acute and chronic needs of U.S. troops and their families. When the Staff of Faith Counseling Center was presented with the opportunity to be a part of the “Give An Hour” program, each and every Staff member agreed to participate! Participation means that each staff member has agreed to provide one hour of free counseling a week to a military member or a member of a serviceperson's family.

For more information please call 480.951.5343 or contact us at info@faithcounselingcenter.org or “Give An Hour” at www.giveanhour.org.
