Professionally, I am a Pastoral Psychotherapist who does “pastoral psychotherapy” AKA “pastoral counseling”. When people ask me about my approach to therapy I say it is “insight oriented relationship therapy”. That means it is usually long term with the goals of gaining understanding about self and the issues that bring one to therapy. My approach is particularly informed by depth psychology, particularly the psychologies of Carl G. Jung and Viktor E. Frankl.
“Relationship therapy” refers to the relationships between the therapist and the client and the relationships in the life of the client broadly considered. My role as both an ordained minister and a trained psychotherapist heavily influence the nature of the therapeutic relationship between the client and me.
